New Committee Formed

"The Board of Education has long felt the need for better and more direct communication with the teaching staff in our District. To that end, a new committee (comprising two teachers and the principals from each building) has been formed to meet with the Board of Education on a regular basis beginning in January. An informal, introductory meeting was held at the November Board meeting. The purpose of the meetings is 'positive progress' -- bringing all ideas to the table. The committee members [with input from and in cooperation with the entire staff] will gather information, resources, ideas, wish lists, special needs, urgent needs, creative alternatives, innovations - anything that might enhance education, pride and enthusiasm in our District. The Board has presented its original list of ideas to the committee simply as a starting point. The goals are to cull from all of the ideas those most feasible for the District, followed by prioritizing and implementation.

This is a new approach in our District requiring energy and support. It is our hope to see real consensus within a few months, resulting in initial implementation soon thereafter. Our teachers are a great group; it will be a pleasure being able to work more directly with them for our kids."
